Southwest Alco Sirens

Many a railfan has taken the detour off of I-40 at Holbrook, Arizona to witness and photograph the Apache Railways solid Alco consists. Highway access to this line is limited. Once south of this location near Holbrook, the line takes off into an area where several east-west roads are mysteriously closed due to some kind of quarrantine.

Flagstaff Landmark

The Purina petfood mill at the east end of Flagstaff, has been a fixture, and large rail shipper for years. It was once out on the very edge of town, but development has caught up with it. The line thru town west of here has been realigned away from old Rte. 66 thru much of town.
